Ron Paul is the only Republican presidential candidate not attending the Conservative Political Action Conference this weekend.
While he was asked to speak, he turned down the invitation due to “the travel constraints of his presidential campaign,” according to a press release from the American Conservative Union.
His son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, will be speaking early Thursday evening, and participating in a book signing after.
“While we will miss Congressman Ron Paul, a perennial favorite among our attendees, we are honored to host Sen. Rand Paul, a leader of the next generation of committed constitutional conservatives, at CPAC 2012,” said ACU Chairman Al Cardenas in the press release.
The Texas congressman won CPAC’s presidential straw polls in 2011 and 2010. And while he was won numerous straw polls over the past few months, he still has not won a statewide primary or caucuses in the 2012 GOP presidential contest.

Ron Paul is becoming the choice candidate to everyone I present the truth to about his positions on liberty and protections of the Constitution. I have watching the primary process since the Iowa Straw Poll and saw for myself the blackout and media bias of Ron Paul. Apalling that the MSM (main stream media) is framing the candidate of their choice or whom ever directs their programing. I educate the public as to this Media bias and blockout of Ron Paul. We who have been paying attention to the primary process have a responsibility to educate our neighbors and relatives to the fradulent process of the primary, which I am sure happens in both the Repulican and Democrat Party and it is not to each other but the members of their own party. Republican and Democrats are wings on the same plane heading into a wall of debt they have created and one day if we do not turn this country in this election it will crash and we will no longer be free. Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate who is telling the truth. That is why the Republican party and MSM are blocking out news of Ron Paul and messing with the voting.
